Nice video:) I was wondering, most of the cheaper 48″ shop lights don’t recommend flush mounting them, only hanging from a chain because of the heat generated, does your lights get hot enough to get you to worry about the plywood you mounted them to getting hot enough to start a fire, especially after being on so long? I want to do what you did only I will be mounting (3) 48″ shop lights to a board.

i dont think those are tomato plants lol

fyi you should never mount a ballast against a combustible material. you need an airgap of a min 1/2″ or they can create a fire if they fail.

I am looking for plans or a video that shows how to make LED plant lights like Grow Goddess LED lights. Radio Shack has the LED and what ever other components needed. I just need the plans.

  12. tomaitoe says:

@cdgarrett1 Forgive me if this is a silly question, but can’t you just use an LED bulb with the system shown in the video?

  13. cdgarrett1 says:

An LED is a Light Emitting Diode and you need the right kind and colors in combination for plant growth plus you need a wiring diagram to see how to put it together. Florescent lamps use ballast and possibly other electrical components that the LEDs wouldn’t use. I was looking for low wattage use for my indoor planting. Plasma Grow Lights may be an option in the near future.I may have to do with what you are doing with florescent t.lights.
